The Work Study Program
The Work Study Program places students at local job sites and non-profit partners for a few hours on Wednesdays throughout the school year. The students gain valuable work experience, develop important workplace soft skills, and gain additional mentorship and support from the community. The sites receive entry-level support for their business or organization. It’s a win-win-win.
Relevant job skills, just part of learning.
How does it work for the student?
The student engages in job-sharing with one or two other students. Each student works one day per week, typically learning entry-level company-specific work. The students work a standard shift (approximately four to six hours on Wednesdays). Each student works approximately four to five days per month.
The process is simple.
We partner with companies and organizations to place students according to the student’s interests, abilities, and needs and the expressed needs of our partners. This ensures a good fit that will benefit both parties.
Benefits for students.
The Work Study Program helps students learn valuable employment skills while under the mentorship of both a workplace mentor and the weekly coaching support of the Cornerstone staff.
