Cornerstone Academy supports students’ well-being.
In addition to Health Coaching, we also have Social Service Club and Creative Community.
Social Service Club is a student-led effort to inform Cornerstone students about community services
that support teen mental wellness.
Student leaders regularly invite representatives from these organizations to speak to their fellow students about what they offer.
Cornerstone strives to nurture students’ well-being both in and outside of the school.
Creative Community supports the mental and emotional well-being of our students in these ways:
Producing art provides an outlet for young people to get negative and confusing emotions outside of themselves instead of feeling crushed by them.
It helps them sort through those feelings and explore another way to express them.
Art has even been used to help people heal from trauma.
Art builds confidence, reduces stress, and improves concentration.
It engages the mind and creates new pathways in the brain, improving learning and memory.
Engaging in art projects helps combat loneliness and fosters a sense of belonging.
Art also helps with depression and anxiety, encouraging hope, reflection, and perspective.
Participating in art often results in greater overall well-being.
