Teach a Class Each year, in addition to our core curriculum, we offer several concentrated, elective block courses. Expanding the Courses taught by guest and part-time teachers have included such topics as art, music, and psychology. Students very much appreciate the opportunities that these courses offer to expand their educational experience. Contact Us If you have an area of expertise that you could share with our students, please contact us so that we can discuss how you might be able to enrich our students' education. |

Vocational Try-Out The Program A Vocational Try-Out is an opportunity for our students to "try-out" a profession through one-week internships with local businesses. Our goal is for one of our students to spend time with a host on his or her job to find out what the working world is all about. The student accompanies the host (or a designee) observing, asking questions, and participating in work whenever possible. In order to receive credit, students must arrive on time every day, keep a log of their activities, complete two worker interviews, write a thank you letter, and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. Who Can Host? We are looking for high caliber people to host our Vocational Try-Outs. To host, you must be willing to host a student intern for one week (5 days) and be able to provide creative and/or contributive ways for your student to participate in the work that you do. Why Host a VTO? VTO mentors provide valuable experience and inspiration for our students. Interns consistently return from their Try-Outs with interesting stories from the world of work. Some even return with a passion for the specific field in which they interned. This is your chance to inspire a young adult. Employers who host a Vocational Try-Out will receive recognition as a partner of Cornerstone Academy. Your participation will be announced in our newsletter and you will be publicly thanked at our graduation service. |
Financial Partnerships How We are Funded Cornerstone Academy is an independent, not-for-profit organization. Our operations are funded by the donations of individuals, corporations, churches and foundations. Thank You! Each year we are tremendously grateful for the thoughts, prayers, and financial support we receive from our friends at LaSalle Street Church, Cornerstone Center, and our greater community. |
